These coins are all produced by Australia's Perth Mint. The Kookaburra was first minted in 1990. Then in 1999, the Perth Mint began minting the Australian Lunar Series I coins. In 2007, the mint began producing the Koala. In 2008, based on the popularity of the Series I Lunar coins, the mint began producing the Lunar Series II coins. Many of the coins come in 1/2 oz, 1 oz, 5 oz, 10 oz., and Kilo. There are also proof versions of many of the coins, but they are difficult to come by and generally expensive. |
